Verna is known for her tastes of foods from all around the world, and she treated local wedding professionals to a spring tasting of her culinary creations!

Verna’s yummy salmon mousse was a big hit and gorgeous to boot!

Vibrant colors and a gorgeous ice sculpture from Ice by Premo  dazzled guests.

Chinese glass noodles with vegetables in cute little takeout containers were  colorful and delicious!

Plantains added some Latin flavor.

Indian  cauliflower appetizers were even more delicious than they looked, followed by  samosas!

My favorite:  stuffed  bacon wrapped jalapeno poppers, ended the tasting, with delicious Jamaican fruit cake and  personalized marshmallows (by Curlicues and Confections) to satisfy anyone’s sweet tooth.  Guests were treated to beautiful violin music by violinist Matt Darcey.

  My friend Ines from Sky’s the Limit-Cakes and More! recently invited me to attend a NAWP (National Association of Wedding Professionals) meeting (since I don’t get out too much! ).  The speaker, Ayesha Mian, gave us some insight into planning and working in Indian weddings.  I love everything about Indian weddings-they’re just so colorful and such beautiful sensory experiences, with tons of gorgeous detail for photographs…I was super thrilled to be able to attend the meeting and hear Ayesha speak. 

We also had yummy appetizers provided by Delicacies by Verna, cake by Wow Factor Cakes, and a Bollywood dance demonstration and lesson from Bollywood Glimpse.

Every 2 months, they hold a contest to choose the best of the best in wedding photography.  I’m so excited to be accepted into this super cool group of amazing photographers and I’m looking forward to entering–I never enter contests, but I think 2013 is the year to start!

SNOW!  Here in the Charlotte, NC area, we get really, really excited about it.  If the ‘S word’ even gets mentioned in the weather report, we all seem to need to run out and stock up on eggs, milk and bread.  (never mind the snow will probably be gone the next day! )

For photographers, it means the world will be transformed for a very short time into a gorgeous wintery wonderland of photographic goodness- a fresh new slate that makes all our old ‘go-to locations’ seem new and exciting.  Knowing time was of the essence, I put out an urgent call on Facebook for some daring couple or bride to come out into the cold and do a super quick mini session…enter Leslie and Clif!  They’ll be getting married later this year, and I’m so glad they braved the icy weather and came out to shoot with me!

They were originally uncertain whether or not to do engagement portraits, but I convinced them.   I’m glad they were up for anything (including a little light painting-always fun!) I think the e-session is so important to your wedding photography, I always give a session with any wedding booking.  It gives us a chance to get to know each other a little more, and loosen you up in front of the camera before the big day.
